Kathleen Files

Kathleen (Breshears) Files, Age 77, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Kathy was born on March 18, 1947 in Sedalia, MO, to parents Virgil and Helen Breshears. The youngest of 6 children, she went to Oak Point School and graduated from LaMonte High School as valedictorian. She married her husband Thomas (Tom) Files in 1965 at County Line Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by her son Anthony (Vendoni); two grandchildren Caleb and Rhys; great-granddaughter Auriella, her brothers David (Judy) and John (Virginia), and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Tommy and sisters Carolyn and Sue.

Kathy enjoyed collecting Heisey glassware but her biggest love was her family. Family members and friends depended on her for compassionate listening, wise counseling, and loving encouragement.

A memorial tribute will be held at 2 P.M. on August 3rd at the Newcomer’s White Chapel, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119. The tribute will start promptly at 2 P.M. The family requests casual dress and no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heisey Collectors of America, Newark, OH or a charity of your choice.

Kathy’s family would like to thank all of her wonderful staff and doctors at St. Luke’s Hospital, especially all her caring nurses in the St. Luke’s Neurological ICU.
