

Keith was born in 1932 to Lowell and Carolyn Graham in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in Green Hills, Ohio.
Keith met the love of his life Marilyn, while attending the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. They married in December 1952. Keith graduated with Distinction from UN-L in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Keith and Marilyn raised four children: Sue, Ken, Jeff (deceased) and David.
Keith’s career focused on Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning. In June 1956, he completed a year of graduate study at Yale University and earned a Certificate from the Bureau of Highway Traffic. Over the course of his working life he worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads, Bureau of Traffic Engineering for the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the City of Wichita, Kansas and in 1961, he became the first Traffic Engineer for the City of Topeka, Kansas. He later joined Alan M. Voorhees and Associates, a Transportation Planning firm, in Washington, D.C. as a Senior Engineer in 1965. He managed the Atlanta, Georgia office from 1970-72.
Keith continued up the career ladder by becoming the Assistant Director of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission in 1972. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1977 and worked for the City of Kansas City as an Assistant Director of the Transportation Department. He became Director in 1985 and retired in 1989.
Keith is a registered Professional Engineer in many states and is a Fellow in both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Keith’s career required extensive family moves. The first major family activity was always joining a Presbyterian Church, providing the foundation for family spiritual growth and social contact. Both Keith and Marilyn have been ordained as Deacons and Elders and served in several churches.
After retirement, they moved to Etowah, North Carolina and enjoyed hiking in the mountains and traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada. In 2000, they moved back to Kansas City to be near their youngest grandchildren.
Keith and Marilyn moved to Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas in 2015.
Keith was a life-long learner and enjoyed discussing current events with family and friends. Throughout his life, Keith searched for the answer to “what is a good man” often turning to religious studies for enlightenment. He was loving and caring with a great sense of humor and his family will miss spending time with him.
Keith is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Fowler); children, Sue Murray, Ken Graham (Kay), David Graham (Jeri); brother, Phil Graham, seven grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Carolyn Graham; his son, Jeffrey and his son-in-law, Doug Murray.
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 1, at 3:00 pm at Aberdeen Village, 17500 W. 119th Street, Olathe, KS 66061. The family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Aberdeen Village Employee Education Fund with Keith Graham noted in the memo line.
