He was born October 27, 1940 to Dewey and Thelma (Davis) Coons in Argentine District of Kansas City, Kansas. After graduation, Kenny enlisted in the US Navy and served proudly on an aircraft carrier. Following his military service Kenny joined General Motors as a lineman assembling cars. On May 24, 1985, Kenny met and married his soulmate, Cheryl Preston. Together they enjoyed each other’s company and adventures.
For the last 19 years, Kenny worked for the City of Kansas City retiring as a Supervisor with Pollution Control. Kenny loved to play pool and really enjoyed the game and spending time with his friends. Kenny enjoyed time with his family at gatherings, playing cards, or hunting and fishing with his son-in-law or grandsons.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Brandi Stephen.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cheryl; his three daughters, Tracy (Oscar) Vogel, Linda (Paul) Jepsen, and Julie Coons; one son, Eric Coons; his step-father, Donald Hoffman; his brother, Lloyd (Sharol) Hoffman; his sister, Letha (Dan) Simmons; grandsons, Zak (Amey) Roland, Jesse (Sara) Jepsen, and Conlin Thompson.
