Kevin grew up in Liberty, MO, and graduated from Liberty High School in 1981. After high school, Kevin went to work for the Missouri Department of Transportation and worked his way up from a basic crew worker to an Equipment Tech Supervisor and retired in 2013 after 31 years. Over the years, Kevin loved working on all things mechanical. Kevin and his father, Alan, built a G John Deere pulling tractor and were extremely hard to beat!
Kevin moved to Missouri City in 1995. Before and after retirement, Kevin loved working on tractors and gas engines for himself, his friends and other tractor and gas engine enthusiasts due to his vast mechanical knowledge. He was well respected and frequently referred to as the “Busiest Retiree” that anyone had ever met. Kevin was involved in tractor pulling and gas engine exhibiting all over the state of Missouri. Kevin was a true Ford freak, he also loved to watch the Royals and Chiefs, and he loved the fall season.
Kevin was loved by many and will be extremely missed by all who knew him. He will always be remembered in his white t-shirt and overalls.
Kevin leaves behind his beloved mother, Betty; his daughter, Katlynn (Ryan) Moorehead; grandson, Graham; and his life partner, Roxanne Writesman; her daughter, Kaytlyn; and granddaughter, Iris. Kevin also leaves behind a large group of tractor and engine buddies who will miss him dearly along with many friends who will forever remember him not only for his excellent mechanical skills, his dependability, his very dry sense of humor, and his love and devotion to the care of his mother, Betty.
Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Alan Shannon and his beloved dog, Jeter.
A visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, located at 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO, 64119, on September 27, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM, with A Celebration of Life at 11 AM. Committal service will take place in White Chapel Cemetery.
