He was born in Kansas City on February 3, 1931 to Frank Carver and Ruby Crumley. Leonard graduated from North East High School in 1948. After two years in the Marine Corp, he worked for Kansas City Terminal Rail Road as a signalman for 42 years and has been retired the past 26 years.
Leonard married Laura Carter of Knoxville, Missouri on December 27, 1952 and the couple had two children, Karen of North Kansas City and Keith of Liberty. They also have two grandsons, Cody of Missouri City and Caleb and his wife Angie of Liberty; two great grandsons, Aidon and Austin, and a third soon in February, all of Liberty.
During the 67 years Leonard and Laura were married they had Carver’s Castings, a foundry that made gun parts and more for old muzzle loading guns. They were active in Rendezvous and Gun Clubs and enjoyed friends from all over the country.
Leonard was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Donald, and one sister, Frances.
The family would like to thank the girls working the 2nd shift on the 6th floor of North Kansas City Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to Leonard on August 15th. A special thanks goes to Angie, the night nurse.
