Lindy was born in Sumter, South Carolina where he spent many happy childhood years. Lindy moved with his family to Kanas City in 1962, eventually settling in Independence, Mo, where he graduated from William Chrisman high school in 1976, winning awards for his artistic ability and finishing at the top of his academic class.
Lindy was a member of the United States Air Force and was proud to serve his country. He went on to spend many years working at Merritt Foods in Kansas City and helped make the famous “Bomb Pop” ice cream novelty.
Lindy was preceded in death by his father, H.E. Campbell and mother, Jeanne Campbell.
Lindy was survived by sister, Lori Clemens (Tim); sister, Julie Shellhorn (Kevin); and brother, Jeff Campbell (Rachel). His nieces, Jamee McNally (Matt), Amy Rasmussen (Dan), Jessica Shellhorn, Amanda Shellhorn, Madison Campbell and Riley Campbell. His numerous great nieces and nephews, Aiyana Shellhorn, Mason McNally, Camden McNally, Addison McNally, Lily Rasmussen, Luke Rasmussen and Tessa Rasmussen.
Lindy had the special talent of making friends wherever he went and was always there with a smile for those who needed it. He was an amazing listener and gave encouragement to everyone he met. He made a profound impact on all who met him and will be missed by all who knew him, especially his family who loved him very much.
