Lucy was born on December 13, 1923 in St. Joseph, MO the daughter of Walter and Valeria (Martinez) Duran. She was married to R.D. Brier and later married to Don Ellstrom. She was a secretary for Co-op for many years and later in life helped Don with his art advertising business. Lucy dearly loved spending time with her family and playing cards with friends. Lucy always had a smile for everyone she met.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Brier Jr. and his wife, Rita of New Albany IN, and William Brier Sr. and his wife, Linda of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Bill Brier Jr and wife Michelle and Cathy Darr of Kansas City, MO; Matt Brier and his wife Heather of Louisville KY. Great grandchildren Sean Brier, Krystal Brier, Adam Brier, Logan Sight, Dylan Darr and Derek Darr. One brother in law, John Yurchak of Broomfield CO. and several nieces and nephews.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don Ellstrom, son, Walter Brier and granddaughter, Stephanie Brier, sisters Liz Sieppel and Mary Yurchak, brothers Michael and Walter Duran.
Pall bearers will be, Sean Brier, Logan Sight, Derek and Dylan Darr.
The family would like to thank Ascend Hospice and the staff at Benton House of Staley Hills for all of the special care of Lucy and her family in their time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the St. Andrew the Apostle Parish at 6415 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
