Marvin Dean Shutler

Marvin Dean Shutler, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Marvin was born October 29, 1934 to Harry and Mildred (Moffitt) Shutler of Arkansas City, Kansas. Marvin was an avid reader, photographer, accomplished artist, gardener, barbecue grill master, and dedicated mentor and coach for his four grandchildren. He was also a loyal University of Kansas and University of Missouri Kansas City basketball fan. Marvin was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. Marvin is survived by his wife, Sue, of 25 years; daughter, Susan Squires and her husband Gil; daughter, Sally Shutler; son, Steve Shutler; daughter, Sara Watkins and her husband Mark; sister, Linda (Shutler) Rahn and her husband Gilbert; step-daughter, Lisa Boosman and her husband Tom; four grandchildren, Cate and A.G. Squires, Alexa Shutler, and Kyle Watkins; and several nieces and nephews. His parents, and earlier this year, his younger brother, Norman Shutler, preceded him in death. A celebration of life will be held privately.
