Mike dedicated his work life as the President of the Local union 235/16M. Voted in 2006 after dedicating 27 years to Tension Envelope as a machine adjuster, Mike loved his role in assisting fellow union members, and his dedicated, hardworking, and charismatic personality earned him the respect of many and lifelong friends during his 18 years as President.
Mike dedicated his personal life to his loving wife Gloria and her family.
Mike was preceded in death by his Loving wife Gloria Mitchem, parents Vernon and Bonnie Mitchem, and Sister June Mitchem Karwoski.
Mike is survived by his stepchildren Donna Smith, Gloria (Steven) Mayer, Paula (Jeff) Watson, William Smith. Sister in-laws, Patricia (Don) Sparks, Paula Craner, Cathy (Craig) Kamphefner. 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Mike loved to attend Chiefs games with Tailgating being his favorite. Mike spent hours preparing, waiting in line for his preferred “spot” then setting up and cooking for the crew. He was a fixture of the front row of the parking lot along with his father in-law Paul and wife Gloria. Mike had season tickets for 35 years and enjoyed every game.
