

Michael was the loving father of Matthew Shanahan. He was the proud grandfather of Bryleigh Shanahan (12), Bentley Shanahan (12), Ayden Shanahan (9), Keane Shanahan (5), Eloise Shanahan (5), and Delilah Shanahan (3). Michael was a caring son to Gloria and Bill Shanahan. He is also survived by his daughter in law Anesa Shanahan, ex wife and good friend Tonya Shanahan, two nieces, a nephew, cousins, and many friends whose lives he touched throughout the years. Michael is preceded in death by his sister Nicole Shanahan.
Michael dedicated 36 years of his career to Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #2. He was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment to his trade. Through his work, he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Michael once said that he felt the most free jumping out of a plane. He enjoyed live music, attending Kansas City and KU sporting events and spending time with his family, especially the moments he shared with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, generous spirit, and the love he had for those closest to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119 on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 12:00 Noon with Visitation from 9:00 AM until Service time. At the conclusion of funeral services, there will be a walking procession to his burial site. Those that cannot walk the distance may ride in their car behind the walkers.
