Mildred was born in 1935 in Dixon, Missouri. While living in Kansas City, she was employed as a cook for the North Kansas City School District. She was always by the side of her husband, Leo, before his passing in 2013. She was his caregiver for the last five years of his life.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Helms, and all of her sisters and brothers. She is survived by a son, Randy (Cindy) Long and a daughter, Karen Rodenberg; three grandchildren, Ryan Long, Derek Long and Shalynn Spicer; and six great-grandchildren, Brayden Long, Avery Long, Mason Long, Dylan Long, Adrian Long and Sawyer Long.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 20 at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119. Entombment will follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
