Nelda was born April 2, 1941 in Athens, Texas and grew up in Portales, New Mexico to Pleas and Elizabeth (Jones) Powers.
For many years Nelda was a stay at home mom to her five children going to work later in life as an Environmental Services Supervisor with the Hilton and Hyatt Hotel Chains.
She had a kind, loving nature who enjoyed doing craft projects, working on puzzles, reading books especially true crime novels and spending time with her neighbors.
Nelda was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Lisa Hirsch.
Survivors include her three daughters, Glenda Hoffman, Carla J. Lewis, and Karen (Bennie) Lakey; a son, Randy Mutch; brothers, LeeRoy Powers, Jerry Powers, Glyn Powers, and Donnie Powers; sister, Shirley Heyer; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
