

Norman Arthur Johnson age 91, of Pleasant Valley, Missouri, passed away peacefully with his family on January 4, 2022. He was born in Clay County, Missouri. Norman was married to Mary Frances Littlejohn Evans from March 27,1953 to October 13,1998 when she passed. Norman has 2 children Roy (Sally) Evans of Tightwad, MO and Darlene Johnson (Joe Spreer) of Pleasant Valley, MO. He has a granddaughter, Amanda Evans and a grandson Curtis Evans (Lindsay Buckner) and 2 great grandchildren Donald Eichelberger and Teddy Evans and many nieces and nephews. He is survived by three brothers, Glen (Rayella) Johnson of Arlington, TX; Alvin (Latricia) Johnson of Marshfield, MO., Gary (Charlene) Johnson of Springfield, MO. and one sister Judy (Larry) Gove of Austin, TX, one brother-in-law Bill Weber of Liberty, MO and sisters-in-law Millie Starr, Pleasant Valley, MO and Joyce Johnson, Warsaw, MO.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Arthur and Jennie (Williams) Johnson, parents-in-law Leroy and Beatrice (Gabbert) Littlejohn, two sisters Joanna and husband Frank Hood. Juanita Weber, two brothers Dale Johnson, Victor Johnson, his brothers-in-law Marvin (Hope) Littlejohn, Gene (Marilyn) Littlejohn, Leroy Starr, sister-in-law Laura Williams and companion Edith Maschler.
Norman was a mimeograph machine/copier repairman for Tempo/Gestner most his adult life until his retirement. He served in the US Navy from July 1948 to July 1952, was a Boy Scout Leader.
Norman was very active in the Pleasant Valley Community. He served as an Alderman for the city and also volunteered with the Pleasant Valley Fire Department from 1966-2000, serving as a fireman, promoting to Assistant Chief and also served as Chaplain. During that time, he became an EMT for the Department. In his later years he worked at the Liberty Rolladium Skate Center.
His wonderful spirt was infectious he genuinely loved Jesus and people. His smile and laughter would immediately fill your heart. He loved sharing Jesus with others and was known for saying, “You just need Jesus.”
He was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He took great pleasure in ministry there, serving as a Grief Support Counselor and working in the Bookstore. He loved going on Mission trips when time allowed.
A Celebration of Life Service with military honors will be held in the west chapel at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 5:00 pm, visitation will follow from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers please send any donations to the family for a memorial to be placed at the Pleasant Valley Fire Department.
Norman will be buried alongside his beloved Mary at White Chapel Cemetery.
