Paula was born in Brownsville, TX. on May 31st, 1942 to John & Ouida Lucas. She Graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1960.
Thereafter she married and had 3 children; Christi Beller Kendrick, Karen Beller Meyer (Gilbert) & John Paul Beller. She married for the 2nd time on October 6th, 1979 to the late Paul Degenhardt. They loved each other to the fullest for over 32 years. Paula & Paul enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world, most memorable was a cruise through the Panama Canal and a trip through Germany. They spent many winter vacations in Breckenridge, Co and owned a 2nd home at the Lake of the Ozarks for over 25 years, where they enjoyed, boating, socializing and lazy days, surrounded by close friends and family.
Paula was an active & dedicated member of several Clay County & Gladstone Mo.
Civic organizations. She was most notably the 1st Chairmen of the Clay County Fine Arts Commission established in 1983 to raise private donations for the aesthetic, artistic and historical elements of the Clay County Court House. Notably the sculptured tile murals which still grace the courthouse today.
After the passing of her husband Paul in 2011, she became actively involved with the Northland Elks Lodge #2376, and the constant companion of the late Dean Gromer. She made many lasting, loyal and dedicated friends through the Elks Lodge, the last 10 years of her life.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Paul & Paula’s “honorary “daughter, Janet Cline of Gladstone, MO. Janet, being a loyal friend and neighbor for the last 25 years.
Paula, known affectionately as “Honey”, to her 3 grandchildren; Taylor Beller of Riverside Mo, Kyle Kendrick of Kansas City Mo, and Austin Degenhardt of San Francisco Ca.; along with 3 great-grandchildren, Arianna 10, Averee 8 and Ethan 3.
Her children would like everyone to remember her grateful heart, loving smile and outgoing personality. She was a loving daughter, mother, wife and friend to all who knew her.
Services will be held Tuesday, Aug 3rd at Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 NE 72nd St, Gladstone, MO 64118.
Visitation at 1pm
Services at 2pm
A celebration of life will be held at the Northland Elks Lodge #2376 immediately following services, all are welcome.
