Philip Louis Riley, 75, of Kansas City North, walked through the pearly gates into Heaven on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. Philip was born in Kansas City, MO on February 17, 1943 to Doris (Shields) Riley and Ray Riley and moved with his family to Maitland, MO at the age of three. He and Marjorie (Zapf) Riley were married January 31, 1965.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24th from 5-7:00 pm with a Masonic Service at 6:30 pm. Services will be held on Monday, June 25th at 10:30 am at Faubion UMC with burial in Maitland, Missouri at 3:00 pm.
Before Philip’s accident, which left him a quadriplegic in 2002, he was a very active member of Faubion United Methodist Church, serving on the finance committee, chairman of trustees and he was a charter member of the Faubion United Methodist Men’s group. He was active in the Rising Sun Masonic Lodge, the Ararat Shrine and a leader in Boy Scout Troop 180. He enjoyed square dancing, camping, boating, snow skiing and telling jokes.
Philip worked as a Xerox technician for over 30 years and was a “jack of all trades” always willing to help a friend or neighbor with mechanical, electrical, plumbing or welding problem.
Philip was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brent Louis and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Riley. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, son, Christopher (Mary) and daughter, Victoria Steele as well as grandchildren; Aurora, Bethany and Johnny Riley, Gavin and Alexandra Steele; step-grandsons, Nicholas and Zachery Kerns; and two foster granddaughters, Arianna and Hannalore; as well his brother, Eric Riley of Omaha, NE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Philip’s church of many years, Faubion United Methodist, 7113 N. Troost Ave, Kansas City, Missouri 64118.
