

He was born in Emporia, KS on January 6, 1928 to Sylvestre and Damacia (Rubalcava) Lopez. Reyes joined the Marines on June 7, 1948. He served in the Korean War. He received a Korean Service Medal with 2 stars. He was proud to have served his country, Semper Fi. He graduated from Emporia State University with a Bachelors’ degree in Accounting. Reyes married Esperanza Maria Luna, the love of his life on November 21, 1953. After moving to Gladstone, Missouri, Reyes began working for the U.S.General Accounting Office, as an accountant. Over the years, the couple welcomed three children into their home. He enjoyed reading, watching western movies and his favorite team, KC Chiefs. He loved cars and planes and left behind a small collection.
Reyes was preceded in death by parents, Sylvestre and Damacia Lopez; siblings, Urbano Lopez, Frances Torres, Isabel Lopez, Ambrose Lopez, Antonia Gonzales and son, Robert Lopez.
Reyes is survived by his wife, Esperanza Lopez; daughter, Carol Anderson; son, Mark Lopez; brother, John Lopez along with numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Interim Hospice and St. Anthony’s staff for their care and dedication.
A rosary and visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at White Chapel Funeral Home 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119; rosary starting at 5:45 to 6pm with visitation from 6 to 8pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 10:30 to 11:30 am at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 6415 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119; the Mass will also be livestreamed and can be accessed by copying and pasting the following link into your browser:

The committal service will occur Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 1:30 to 2 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS 66048.
