Dick was born September 28, 1935 to Denver and Audra Lanning and was a lifelong resident of Kansas City North. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1953 and UMKC School of Dentistry in 1963. Dick married his high school sweetheart, Raymonette in 1956 and she was the love of his life for over 65 years.
He had a thriving dental practice for 47 years. Dick had a wonderful contagious laugh and warm smile. There was always a happy atmosphere in his office, he had a personal relationship with each of his patients, and you never felt like you were “going to the dentist”. Dick was active in the North Kansas City Breakfast Club and Mid-Century Dental Study Club throughout his career.
Dick treasured his children and grandchildren and shared his love of travel, fishing, snow and water skiing, and cheering on his favorite sports teams with them. He and Raymonette spent many winters in San Diego enjoying family, the beautiful weather and making friends.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, JJ & Ann Lanning; and an infant son, James Bowman.
Dick is survived by his wife Raymonette; son, Richard (Mary Pat) Lanning; daughter, Paige (Greg) Babikian; and grandchildren, John Lanning, Sarah (Michael) Lydon-Lorson, Alexandra Babikian; and Michael Babikian.
