Bob was born in Chicago, IL on October 20, 1942 to Clarence and Jane Parquette. He graduated from Menominee Falls High School in Wisconsin. After his family moved to Minneapolis, MN, Bob met Kathryn (Kay Lee), the love of his life and they married in 1962 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia Heights, MN. They soon after started a family, complete with 3 children. They would have celebrated 60 years together in September of this year.
Bob was the patriarch of his family. He was a mentor to each of his children throughout their entire lives, and also his grandchildren. He told the best stories and had a great sense of humor that will be greatly missed. His family was of the utmost importance to him and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.
Bob was known to everyone as a hardworking dependable loving man. He spent 10 years as a police officer with the Fridley Police Department in Fridley, MN. In 1972, Bob was proud to be given the first ever “Policeman of the Year” award.
After leaving the police department, Bob went onto owning Northeast Towing Company with his business partner Gary Phillips. He spent the remainder of his working career in MN working at Minor Ford, in New Brighton. In 1989, Bob and Kay relocated to Kansas City, MO where Bob worked and retired from the Adesa Auto Auction in Lee’s Summit, MO. He retired to be able to spend time with his 3 grandchildren. He never missed attending the celebration of each grandchild’s accomplishments. He became a very familiar face to everyone at the local ice rinks in the Kansas City area while supporting his grandchildren and their love of ice sports.
Bob enjoyed old cars, racing, auctions, car shows and buying and driving new F150 trucks. He loved watching the old westerns and listening to blue grass music.
Bob was preceded in death by father Clarence, mother Jane and brother Richard. He is survived by wife Kay; children Julie Lopicka (Warren), Colleen Taylor (Robert) and Robert (Bob) Parquette II; and grandchildren Alexys Taylor, Logan Lopicka, Jacob Taylor, Katy Cortez and many other loving family members.
The funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42 Terrace, KC., MO. 64116 on May 14, 2022 at 11am. There will be a visitation at the same location beginning from 9am to 11am. His family will be present to welcome loved ones and friends. A small luncheon at the church to follow the service.
