Robert "Bob" E. Reynolds

Robert Earl Reynolds, born September 9, 1940, in Moberly, Missouri, died August 30, 2026, in Liberty, Missouri, at age 85. Bob was a man of the rails and the field—someone equally at home coupling cars on a moving train or watching a well-trained pointer work through open country at sunrise.

For 42 years, Bob worked as a brakeman and conductor for the Wabash, Norfolk & Western, and Norfolk & Southern Railroad, a career that demanded precision, vigilance, and unwavering reliability. He brought that same steadiness to everything else he did. A 1958 graduate of Westran High School where he lettered in basketball, Bob was always helpful and friendly, the kind of man people counted on. He was kind-hearted and possessed tenacious grit that showed up in how he lived.

Bob's real passion lies in bird dogs, and field trialing, as well as raising cattle and attending horse races. He earned a Life Patron Membership in The Bird Dog Foundation Inc in Grand Junction, Tennessee, and became a notable and well-respected field trial judge. His dogs won multiple field trials including championships and earned invitations to the National Shooting Dog Championship. He also earned a 50-year continuous membership award from the United Transportation Union, in recognition of a lifetime of dedication. Beyond the field trials, Bob simply loved opening day of quail season or spending an afternoon at a cattle auction—the everyday joys that made up a full life.

Bob is survived by his wife, L Catherine (Hogan) Reynolds; his children Randall & Jerri Reynolds and Ryan & Heather Reynolds; and his grandchildren Zackariah & Anna Reynolds, Madeline (Reynolds) & Joseph Milner, and Sydney Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. and Lora M. (Harmon) Reynolds; his siblings Marjorie Reynolds and Mildred (Reynolds) McAtee; his son Robert L. Reynolds; and his grandson Noel Reynolds.

A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119, on September 3, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
