Robin Edgman was born at St Luke’s Hospital on September 6, 1964, in Kansas City to Lewis and Viola (Hansen) Edgman. Robin’s family lived in Kansas City until 1975 when her mother’s job moved them to Independence. She attended junior high in the Fort Osage School District and was a proud 1982 graduate of Fort Osage High School. After graduating, Robin enjoyed her time at CMSU (now UCM) in Warrensburg.
Robin worked at Oceans of Fun for two years where she befriended Anna Eacret, who later introduced her to her brother David. After working at Oceans of Fun, Robin began working with her best friend from childhood, Christina S, at Peterson Manufacturing. Robin married David Eacret on June 25, 1988 at Barry Christian Church in Kansas City. Although Robin enjoyed her job at Peterson Manufacturing, when she and David were expecting their first child, Robin was happy to become a homemaker so she could be present for their children. Robin was blessed with a large loving family, having seven children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a mother to many. She was kind and soft-spoken but fiercely protective of her loved ones.
Education and school activities were a large part of the Eacret family's lives. Robin volunteered so much of her time at Headstart (preschool), that she was repeatedly recognized with awards. She was a constant at Santa Fe Trail Elementary and John W. Luff Elementary. She helped teachers, was a member of the PTA, and was always assisting with holiday parties and school activities. Now that Robin’s kids are grown and some have children of their own, they look back in awe of their mother. When they would ask her how she was able to juggle all of their afterschool activities, she would always say that she just made it work. With seven children in the span of 13 years, there was always something to do. Her children participated in private instrument lessons, choir, band, orchestra, afterschool clubs, sports, either Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, and all seven children played basketball. Robin was there for it all, making sure each child could go to every activity they wanted to, cheering each step of the way. She attended countless performances and games. Every child, whether they were hers or not, felt genuine love and support from Robin.
Robin enjoyed travelling. When her husband, David, was driving professionally, she would join him when she could. As a result, Robin saw the majority of the continental United States by David’s side. Favorite destinations included Niagara Falls, Oregon, Washington DC, Florida, and several zoos. These travels later inspired her to board her first plane. Robin and her family took three trips to Hawaii; Oahu (2017), Kauai (2019), and Maui (2025). Over 20 people traveled to Maui to celebrate the marriage of her youngest son in May. Each year, Robin looked forward to a large family campout at Smithville Lake where the entire family would gather to spend quality time.
Barry Christian Church played a large role in Robin’s life. Barry was where she married her beloved David and became where she attended church each week. It was where she was baptized and where she donated so much time teaching classes at Vacation Bible School for over a decade. Robin was a pillar of the congregation. Robin’s church family was her second family.
Robin had courageously fought cancer since her diagnosis of stage four breast cancer in 2016. Robin continued to be strong, until she peacefully passed in her sleep from complications of her cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones, who are grateful that she is no longer in any pain and happy for the memories made in those nine years.
Robin is survived by her husband, David; her children, Christina, Rachel, Brittany (Jacob), Jessica, David Jr (Skylar), Michelle, Noah (Paige); her grandchildren, Wyatt, Gavin, Saily, Rosalina, Layla, Ava, Kashten, Xavier, Maya; brother, Louie Edgman and many loved ones. She is preceded in death by her mom Viola, brothers Jerry and David, and granddaughter Zoey.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Robin touched are invited to Barry Christian Church, 1500 NW Barry Rd, Kansas City on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm with the funeral service beginning at 1pm, followed by a celebration of life to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat. Food will be provided during the celebration of life.
“Even in the darkest hour, I will not fear, for thy is with me.” Psalm 23:4
“I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, and I pray that the sharing of your faith may become effective for the full knowledge of every good thing that is in us for the sake of Christ.” Philemon 1:4-6
When we have deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we loved deeply becomes a part of us. Do not stand by my grave and cry for I am not there.
You should be here. You shouldn’t miss all of this. My hope is that you have the best view of all. And that someday we will get to talk about it.
