Ruth Ann Holmes, 97, of Novato, CA, formerly of North Kansas City, MO, passed away on July 3, 2016. Ruth was born October 20, 1918 in O’ Fallon, IL to Bernard and Anna Kirk. From 1943 to 1945 she was a “Wave” stationed on Treasure Island, CA. She returned to Aurora, IL and married James E. Holmes. Jim’s employment with AT&T took them to Milwaukee, WI where their only child, Kathleen, was born. In 1953 they chose to move to North Kansas City, MO with AT&T. In 1966 she applied for a VA position. She worked for the VA until her retirement. It was around this time she started “decorating” cakes for birthdays and holidays. It became her passion. In 1986 she moved to Novato, CA. Ruth was preceded in her death by her husband, Jim. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Katie) Kitching. Graveside services and burial will be 11:00am, Friday, July 15, 2016 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
