Steve was born in Kansas City, MO, on March 27, 1953 to Ronald Green and Jean Castleberry. He graduated from Platte County R-III High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1971. He proudly served as a chef during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Bradley DE/FF-1041.
Steve was a gifted artist and musician who was passionate about writing and singing. He loved to cook and enjoyed preparing meals for his family during the holidays, most notably his annual 4th of July parties. Steve was an outdoorsman and was known for his immaculate lawn and landscaping. His grandchildren Kayden and Kember were his pride and joy. He loved being their silly Papa and he was there for them on every birthday and holiday. Steve was proud of his Native American heritage and was a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Bill Green and Jeff Green.
He is survived by his partner and best friend, Joyce Stoway, Excelsior Springs, MO; his daughter Danielle and her husband Darnell Kohler, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Kayden and Kember Kohler; sister Judy (Charles) Ruddy, Drexel, MO; brothers Ronald Jr. (Vickie) Green, Lawson, MO, Mike (Linda) Green, Gig Harbor, WA, Kevin (Melody) Green, Omaha, NE, and Kerry Green, Glastonbury, CT; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the Hiawatha Cemetery in Hiawatha, KS.
