Born March 27, 1943, in Ellis, Kansas to Arvilla (Bell) and Harold F. Hillman. Terry was baptized and later confirmed at the Ellis Lutheran Church.
Terry graduated from Trego Community High School in 1961. He would attend Emporia State Teachers College from 1961-1962. He then transferred to Fort Hays State earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1966. Terry furthered his education in 1970-1971 at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his Master of Science Degree.
Terry taught high school science at Northern Valley High School in Almena, Kansas for three years, before moving to Phillipsburg, Kansas and teaching for nine years at Phillipsburg High School. During the 1975-76 school year, Terry was selected by his peers for the Master Teacher Award.
Following his teaching career, Terry’s attention turned to Environmental Consulting Services for the next twenty-six years with Farmland Industries.
On August 31, 1963, Terry married his high school sweetheart, Jeannette Bauer. Together they raised two sons, Tim and Craig.
One of Terry’s favorite things was spending time with the family at various lakes, camping, boating, water skiing and spoiling his pets. He especially enjoyed attending OU Sooner football games in Norman, Oklahoma and got very excited when they would win. He had a strong passion for science and nature.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Arvilla and his brother, Harold Ty Hillman.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeannette; his two sons, Tim (Marci) and Craig (Amanda) Hillman; his four grandchildren Molly (Brad) Ebinger, Cara (Logan) Williams, Jack Hillman, and Harrison Hillman; one great granddaughter, Jane Abigail Williams; sisters-in-law, Wanda (Bob) Lynn and sister-in-law, Judy Hillman; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Wayside Waifs or American Cancer Society.
