Terry was born in Topeka, Kansas. He grew up in Soldier, Kansas, enlisted in the US Air Force, and moved to the Kansas City area in 1969. Terry worked as a police officer in Parkville. He retired as a maintenance mechanic from Grainger several years ago.
He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and KU Jayhawks fan. Terry enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, and spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Amos. In 1984, Terry took on a new way of life -- total abstinence from alcohol and was an active member of the AA family for the next 41 years.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Nelda Slocum and a son, Brian Slocum.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger; a daughter, Denise Slocum; a granddaughter, Samantha Santoyo (Joseph); great-grandchildren, Avery and Julian; a step-son, John George (Rae); a step-daughter, Brenda George; step-grandchildren, Zachary Porter, Mackenzie Cirilo, Jackie Jenkins and Frankie George.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m - 12 p.m., Monday, November 24 at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
