

Val was born on September 17, 1932 in Miltonvale, KS to Martin and Bea Matson. She graduated from Douglas, KS High School in 1948. Val married George Stringer Jr. when they met during road construction nearby. Val worked for a number of companies over the years including National Bellas Hess and the Operating Engineers Local 101 in Kansas City. She also enjoyed her role as a tour guide throughout the United States and overseas.
Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to stay out of trouble. She was a talented entrepreneur and was passionate about her friends and neighbors. She was an active and dedicated member of Barry Christian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter and daughter-in -law. Val is survived by her son George, granddaughters Sara and Kim and grandsons George, James and Daniel. She enjoyed spending time with her nine great grandchildren, her wonderful friends and relatives.
Services are scheduled at White Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, March 9th. Visitation will be 11:00am to 12:00pm followed by the Memorial service from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119.
