She was born in Norfork, Arkansas, the youngest of 10 children born to Otis and Cecil Lee Vest. The family later moved to Kansas City, Missouri for her father's employment. At the time her three older brothers were serving in WWII. Virginia graduated from Northeast High School in 1961. She later went on to attend
night school where she completed her Associates Degree with a 4.0 gpa in Business Management which lead to a career as a Safety Specialist. She retired from the Kansas City Power & Light Iatan Plant. Virginia was the matriarch of the family. She was a loving and caring anchor for her family, always putting them first. The couple enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii.
Virginia was preceded in death by her 5 brothers Lehman, Norman, Darrel, Lucky and Randy Vest. Her 3 sisters Ada Billings, Ivone Floyd and Betty Stowers.
She is survived by one sister Debbie Spurling (Cary, NC) and 2 sisters-in-law, Kathy Vest and Erlene Vest (West Covina, CA). Virginia also leaves 6 adult children. Janell Pace (Ron)(Auxvasse), John Johnson, Debbie Lietz (Bryan), Phillip W. Craven (Wichita), Amy Peebler (Wichita),
Lisa Craven (New York). Grandchildren are Stephanie (Khafra), Stephen (Emily), Michelle, R.J., Dylan, David, Blake, Jake, Brittney, Donald, Daniel (Ana), Ronda, Darren, Bryce, Brody, Alissa, Saige, Londen, Lily and Dalton. Great-Grandchildren are Skylar, Chase, Carson, William, Matthew, LaraLynn, Morgan, Jackson and Gabby. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved their aunt.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her husband, family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, strong work ethic, sense of humor, deep faith and her devoted love of family and friends.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 12, 2020 from 2-4pm at Riverstone Resort Community at 9000 N. Congress Ave., Kansas City, MO 64153.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to St. Jude's Hospital in her name.
