

Virginia Lee Smith, age 82, of Platte City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born on December 6, 1942, in Parkville, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of Simpson G. and Dolly J. (Amos) Fletcher.
On May 10, 1962, Virginia married the love of her life, Robert Frank Smith, in Riverside, Missouri. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter, welcoming two wonderful children, Robert and Sonya, into their family. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother, always ready with a kind word or thoughtful advice for those she loved. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Virginia had a passion for life that was evident in her love for dancing with Robert, a memory that brings smiles to her children’s faces. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was sharing stories with friends or enjoying the company of her grandchildren. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Simpson and Dolly Fletcher, and seven siblings: Charles Fletcher, John H. Fletcher, Mable Colton, Mary Mount, Jacob Fletcher, Edward Fletcher, and Dolly E. Tholl.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert Smith, of the home; her two children, Robert L. Smith and wife Dawn of Kansas City, Missouri, and Sonya Smith of Platte City, Missouri; three adoring grandchildren, Kelsey Cierra Smith, Ryan Lee Smith, and Alexander Jordan Lamb; and two siblings, Sue Iburg and Jack M. Fletcher.
A visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, located at 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119, on November 2, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
