
He was born January 9, 1935, in Harvard, Illinois to Paul and Ann Altenburg. On August 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Haake and together they raised four sons.
Wayne served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War era. Following his years of service, Wayne and Mary Ann moved from Illinois to the Kansas City area where he eventually worked at the Claycomo Ford Assembly Plant in Claycomo, MO. He later worked as a lithographer for the Henry Wurst Printing Company in North Kansas City until his retirement. Wayne was a faithful member of Cornerstone Bible Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Altenburg; four sons, Paul Altenburg, Kansas City, Tom Altenburg and wife Wylene, Raymore, MO, Tim Altenburg and wife Stephanie, Kansas City, and David Altenburg, Kansas City; and three grandsons, Jonah, Lucas and Daniel Altenburg.
Services will be at 2 PM, Friday, September 2, 2016, at White Chapel Funeral Home, Gladstone, MO, with visitation from 1 - 2 PM. Burial to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Cornerstone Bible Church, 10335 NW Prairie View Rd., Kansas City, MO 64153 or to City Union Mission.
