

William George Bachman, age 84, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026. He was born on January 18, 1942 in Harlington, TX, Robert and Vera Bachman. He graduated from George Washington Senior High School in 1960. He then joined the United States Navy in 1960, where he served for four years. Bill then started work at Chicago Northwestern in Marshalltown, IA as a mechanical manager. In 1995, he moved to Kansas City, MO to continue his railroad career. He retired in 2001 after 29 years.
Bill married Linda Bachman in 1969. Together, they had two children, Bob and Jodi. After Linda’s passing, he married Sandra on April 27, 1998 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
Bill was a proud Navy Veteran, he loved passing out challenge coins to other branches of military. He enjoyed photography, gardening, and collecting railroad memorabilia. Bill traveled to many railroad and Navy reunions. You could always find Bill with a cold beer in his hands, and he never knew a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vera; his first wife, Linda Bachman; his sister, Betty Bachman; his son, Bob Bachman; and his daughter, Jodi Bachman.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Bachman; his adopted granddaughter, Ashley (Bryan) Barr; his great-grandchildren, Alexander, Emily, and Grantlee; as well as numerous friends and extended family.
