

William B. Korte (Bill), died peacefully on July 9, 2025. Bill was born on April 8, 1939, in Glasgow, Missouri to William Henry and Helen (Flaspohler) Korte. Bill graduated from Glasgow High School in 1957.
Bill married the love of his life, Anna Monnig at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow, Missouri on October 17, 1964. Over the years, they created a beautiful family. On September 26, 1967, they became parents to Carmen Marie. Their son, Keith William was born on December 21, 1970. Their youngest child, Kristi Ann, was born on November 11, 1973. Bill spent many years as a coach and manager of the kids’ baseball teams, was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 214 in Pleasant Valley where he also spent many years as a volunteer fireman and driver as well as an ambulance attendant.
Bill served in the United States Navy for five years from 1959-1964 and was a proud Navy Veteran. He served as a Signalman and attained the rank of First-Class Petty Officer. Bill’s highlights include serving in Japan and being assigned to the minesweeper USS Warbler. After serving in the Navy, he spent 34 years working at International Harvester/JI Case and retired in 1992.
Bill was a kind, loving, compassionate, hard-working man with the best sense of humor. He was proud of his family and being a husband, dad and papa was his greatest joy. Bill was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Missouri. He enjoyed watching both the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Helen Korte and sister Dorothy Korte.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Anna and his sister Harriet Korte Frost (Robert). His children and grandchildren which include: his daughter Carmen Korte (Chip Sage) and their sons Ian, Caleb, and James. His son, Keith Korte (Stephanie)and their children Olivia (Ben Teague), Gen, and Kalder. His daughter, Kristi Black (Eric) and their children Kaylee (Jake McCartney) and Cameron and his great grandchild Jace McCartney.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Glasgow, Missouri. Visitation begins at 10:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. A committal service with military honors will occur at Washington Cemetery following mass. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Missouri to the “Serve the Poor” mission or to Saint Mary Catholic School in Glasgow, Missouri or any other charity of your choice in honor of Bill.
