William O. (Bill) Vassar, 88, of Kansas City, MO passed away April 18, 2016. Bill was born September 21, 1927 in Laverne, OK. Bill started working at the age of 16 in the mail room at Commerce Bank and worked his way to the President of Commerce Mortgage Company. At his retirement Bill was a branch President. Banking was his full time job and his part time job was farming. He was an avid reader and a Charter Member of Fairview Christian Church. Preceded in death by his parents John H and Mary E Vassar, wife Rose Marie Vassar, daughter Barbara Crook, granddaughter Nicole Gibson; sister Leona Dean, Julia Caylor, Mary Ellen Hupp and brother John Junior Vassar. Survivors include his 3 daughter’s Elizabeth Ann (Dan) Gibson, Susan Marie (Bruce) Moberly, Claudia Louise (Rick) Mossberger; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, brother Jimmy Vassar, son-in-law Danny Crook. Service 10:00am Monday April 25, 2016 Fairview Christian Church. Interment White Chapel Memorial. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00pm White Chapel Funeral Home Gladstone, MO. In Lieu of flowers family suggests memorial gifts to Alzheimers Association or Fairview Christian Church.
