

Alberta Colston, 95, of Glasford, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Heartland Nursing Home in Canton. She was born August 28, 1918 in Murphysboro, Illinois to Clarence and Elva (Lindsey) Thrower. She married James Colston on August 21, 1945 in Jacksonville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, C.D. Colston; Dtr.-In-Law, Cherie Colston and 4 brothers, Vivan, Merle, Robert and Floyd. Surviving are her son, Michael Colston of Glasford; grandson, Matt (Jenny) Colston of Hoopeston; great-grandson, Alex and sister, Mary Hobbs of Mt. Olive, IL. Alberta loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar as a young adult with her sister. She also loved gardening, flowers and crocheting. During WWII she worked at the Nesco War Factory while her husband, James was serving his country. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Chapel in Glasford, IL, with Rev. Randy Schrock officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Chapel. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Illinois.
