

Alma F. (MacDonald) Miller, 98, beloved wife of the late Raymond L. Miller, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24th, at Mt. Laurel Assisted Living Center, surrounded by her loving family. Alma was a graduate of Roosevelt Hospital School of Nursing and started her nursing career at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. She then became a flight attendant for American Airlines until her marriage to Ray in 1940. She accompanied her husband Ray traveling the world to many banking conventions and Rotary International functions. After Ray's passing in 1973, Alma used her extensive travel experience to become an international tour escort with AAA Travel agency. Alma then became a real estate agent, working in Glastonbury for over 15 years. She was a past member of the Woman's Club of East Hartford, League of Woman's Voters, and the Kiwi Club for retired flight attendants as well as a longtime member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Glastonbury. She was also active in the Red Hat Society and had many dear friends at the Riverfront Community Center in Glastonbury. She touched many lives made countless friends. Her unwavering positive attitude and zest for living, were always an inspiration to everyone that knew her. Alma took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Carol Miller of Newington and Jane Knight and her husband Bob of Manchester; her 4 grandchildren, Todd Pekrul and his wife Marianne of Pembroke, MA, Kirk Pekrul and his wife Amanda of Stafford Springs, Quincy Knight and her husband Derik Breiner of Gunnison, CO, Jordan Knight and Barbara Perkins of Bolton; her great grandchildren, Christopher, Colleen, Caitlin, Maren, William, Cameron, Logan, Madison and many loving extended family members. Many thanks to her special caregiver, Carmella "T" Starkowski and the staff at Mt. Laurel and Masonicare for Alma's care and support. Friends and family are welcome to gather on Saturday, March 28th, for a period of visitation from 1 to 3PM, at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpk., Glastonbury.
