Anne (Moody) McMillen, beloved wife of Robert H. McMillen, passed peacefully from this earth on January 29, 2011. Anne was born in Utica, NY to Jane (Lefler) and Clarence W. Moody. She grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY where she met her lifelong companion and future husband, Robert McMillen. Anne graduated from Pratt Institute and, during World War II, went to work as an Executive Secretary at Revere Copper and Brass in NYC. In 1946, she and Robert married and moved to the Hartford, CT area where Robert worked for the Traveler's Insurance Co. They resided in Glastonbury for over 40 years. Anne's primary concern was always for her family and friends. She enthusiastically encouraged and supported her husband's and children's aspirations and activities. Anne was a strong and independent woman with a wry sense of humor. She was inquisitive and adventuresome and always willing to try something new. Anne loved sports, particularly tennis, and was a member of a number of bridge clubs. She also enjoyed gardening, dancing, painting, and travel, and she and Robert took many trips in the U.S. and abroad. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. For many years Anne was a member of Protectors of Animals, and her home always welcomed at least one dog or cat. Those animals who are mistreated or unloved were a special concern for her. Anne is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert H. McMillen; a son, David L. McMillen of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter, Janice and her husband Claus S. Metzer of Glastonbury, CT; and a sister Jean W. Nathan of Hendersonville, NC. Both Anne and her family appreciated and are very thankful for the thoughtful and loving care provided to her by the many special individuals at Buckingham Estates and the doctors, nurses and staff who assisted her throughout her final journey. Anne was a member of 1st Church of Christ, Glastonbury. There are no calling hours. Anne will be laid to rest in Saratoga Springs, NY at the convenience of the family.
