Barbara Webb Schmidt

Barbara Webb Schmidt, Age 91, widow of Edgar John Schmidt of Glastonbury, passed away unexpectedly on June 13, 2015 at her home. Daughter of Todd and Garnet Webb, Barbara was raised in Occoquan, VA and resided in New York City and West Caldwell, NJ before settling in Glastonbury. She attended Mary Washington College where she majored in business, and minored in music. She was employed as a secretary for various firms and churches in New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut throughout her life. She was an active member of the choir at South Congregational Church, South Glastonbury, for many years, and was also active in The Musical Club of Hartford. She and her late husband traveled extensively, and enjoyed camping, opera, theater and duplicate bridge.

She will be dearly missed by her three children, Robert Schmidt of Middletown CT, Allison Potter and her husband Steven of Windsor, Greg Schmidt and his wife Joan of Southington and her two grandsons Michael and Matthew Schmidt of Southington.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother John Webb and her granddaughter Emily Schmidt.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday June 20 at South Congregational Church, 949 Main St South Glastonbury CT, 06073. A private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to The South Congregational Church Music Program, at the above address.
