Kathleen Dooner Allen

Kathleen D. Allen, born January 11, 1921 in Irvington, NJ, to Zella and George Dooner, passed away at age 97 on October 22, 2018 in Hartford, CT with her son Bill by her side. She was the third of 8 children having 6 brothers, Bruce, Donald, George, Lee, William & James, and an older sister, Olive, who all predeceased her. Kathleen was an honor student, and an avid roller skater in high school and after, winning numerous roller skating dance competitions. Roller skating was how she met her beloved husband of nearly 61 years, and it was a passion that they both shared. She was also an avid golfer spanning 56 years of her life both in CT and FL. Her working career included hosting her own tv show in Hartford, CT, featuring local artisans and crafts, executive secretary at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and for the superintendent of schools in Manchester, CT, and as a paralegal at a local law firm in Manchester for her last 22 working years before retiring to Florida in 1983. She is survived by her son Bill, with whom she lived and who cared for her for nearly the last 5 years of her life, as well as a daughter, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a very kind and gentle person who will be greatly missed.

Kathleen was an honor student, and an avid roller skater in high school and after, winning numerous roller skating dance competitions.
