Lorraine O. Anderson

Lorraine O. Anderson, 84, of Glastonbury, beloved wife of Burton H. Anderson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Hartford Hospital just 4 days following her 62nd wedding anniversary. She was born in Hartford on Sept 14, 1929, the only child of Carl A. & Mabel (Johnson) Oslund.

Lorraine graduated in 1947 from Bulkeley High, Hartford and attended Hillyer Business College 1947-1948.

She was employed as a Secretary at Bulkeley High School, Secretary to Superintendent, Board of Education, City of Hartford; Secretary Board of Education, Town of North Haven; Secretary-Office Manager and bookkeeper for multiple local small businesses.

Lorraine was active in her community and was a member of the Bloomfield Garden Club, President Flying Yankee Wives Club, Children’s Family Services, Hartford Ski Club, Baldwin yacht Club and Schennecosset Yacht Clubs. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and visiting many friends and relatives there. She provided the logistics and support for her husband’s sail racing for over 20 years and sailed on one passage returning to Groton from Bermuda. She was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hartford. Lorraine was noted for her cooking abilities and love of desserts, a very devoted wife by supporting her husband in all of his sailing, military or automotive activities. She offered her best support to all of her daughter’s activities throughout her life. She was selected as the best by her husband while they were both in high school and were married 8 years later while he was in the USAF.

In addition to her husband Burt, Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Donna Lee (Anderson) Famiglietti and her husband Michael Famiglietti of Cheshire.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 23, at 12Noon, at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpk., Glastonbury, CT 06033. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home at 11AM. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
