Ramon Louis Acosta Sr. 37, Beloved husband of Dyan (O’Brien) Acosta, since 2006 of East Hartford passed away unexpectedly on Sunday June 15, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born on February 21, 1977 in Hartford. He graduated and attended East Hartford High School and resided in East Hartford for 20 years. He was employed by Sodexo at The University of Connecticut and Rentschler Field for 10 years. He recently was promoted to General Manager of Concessions at The University of Connecticut. Ramon loved his job and he took pride in the level of responsibility he held in preparing for major successful sporting events. He was a devoted husband and father that loved to spend time with his family. He loved attending and watching his son Ramon Jr. play baseball and basketball on his high school teams. He enjoyed the special daughter and father time he had with his daughter Selena. Ramon was so proud of his youngest son Alexander watching him grow and discover the world around him. He also enjoyed riding his Harley with his family and friends. He took special pride in his Hot Lava Scion XB and loved upgrading it with the newest gadgets with his son Ramon Jr. He will be most remembered for his amazing smile, gentle heart and spirit, and his unique laugh that was contagious.
In addition to his wife Dyan, Ramon will be dearly missed by his daughter Selena Acosta; his sons Ramon Acosta Jr. and Alexander Acosta; His mother Lorraine Roman and her husband Joe of East Hartford; His brother Gilberto Acosta Jr. and his partner Annette Rivera of East Hartford; His sister Lisa Acosta-Lawson and her husband Joey of Manchester; His mother and father-in-law Thomas & Frances O’Brien of East Hartford; His brother-in-law and 2 sister-in-laws, many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and especially his best friend Luis Alicea; He was predeceased by his father Gilberto J. Acosta Sr. and an uncle Lawrence M. Whalen and his niece Brittany O’Brien. Ramon will be forever loved and dearly missed.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 20, 4 to 8PM at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpk., Glastonbury, CT. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 10:30AM at the funeral home with Father Cremonie presiding, friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home at 10AM. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
