Robin M. Worley, 65, of Glastonbury, died at home on Saturday, July 14, 2012 following a valiant struggle with cancer, which she battled with courage and dignity. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Jonathan Worley, who had the privilege of being Robin’s husband for 23 years.
Robin was born in New York City, the daughter of Robert Mutrux and Elizabeth Lofting, she grew up in Wilton, CT. She had resided in Glastonbury since 1981. Robin spent many years working in the insurance Industry and had spent the past 15 years in the Higher Education field, recently retiring from her position as Business Manager for the English Department of UConn in Storrs. Robin loved animals of all kinds, particularly cats and birds. She loved nature and was known for her beautiful gardens. Robin was also an accomplished and generous quilter. She loved making gift quilts for new babies of family and UConn Faculty members and donated many of her quilts to the Hole-in-the-Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT.
In addition to her husband and her two cats, Cheddar and Jazz, whom she adored, Robin is survived by her three sisters; Jennifer Lander of Morgantown, West Virginia, Michele Witt and her husband Michael of London, England, and Brien Chelminski and her husband Rudy of Bourron-Marlotte, France. Robin is also survived by two step-children, Maia Worley of Atlanta GA and Joshua Worley of Alameda CA, and two step grandchildren, Morgan Cleaveland and Isaiah Worley. She also leaves a loving extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Robin’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Greater Hartford VNA/Hospice staff for their wonderful care and to Robin’s Ripley Road neighbors for their many acts of kindness and support during her illness.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Robin’s life on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11AM, at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpk., Glastonbury CT 06033. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 10AM at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
