Alfredo Jose Montoya, 56 years old, began his journey to be with our Lord on April 4, 2024 in Glendale, Arizona. He was born on May 21, 1967 to Gloria Flores and Louis A. Montoya in Flagstaff, Arizona.
He attended Kinsey and Christensen Elementary schools in Flagstaff and was active in sports and cub scouts until moving to Phoenix in 1978. Al continued his participation in basketball, football, baseball and soccer and graduated from Palo Verde Jr. High School and Apollo High School in Glendale, AZ, graduating class of 1985. He furthered his education at Glendale Community College and Arizona State University. Al completed an electrical apprenticeship with IBEW Local 640 and became a Journeyman Wireman working on industrial and commercial projects. He quickly advanced to supervisory levels and oversaw several projects and crews. He took pride in his profession and continued working in this capacity until illness forced him to retire early in 2001. Al remained a member of IBEW Local 640 for 20 years.
Al is survived by his devoted mother and caregiver; Gloria Flores of Glendale, AZ, three children; Sara Montoya of Mesa, AZ, Grayson Montoya of Tempe, AZ and Tucker Montoya of Peoria, one grandson;
Asher Montoya, Co-parents/Uncle Mario and Aunt Cindee Contreras of Queen Creek, AZ, Uncle Eppie Arviso of Queen Creek, AZ, Aunt Jean and Uncle Rey Aguila of Palmdale, CA and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Al was preceded in death by his brother, Louis M. Montoya, maternal grandparents Alfredo C. Flores and Lupe O. Flores, maternal aunt; Lucia Arviso and other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.
