On Sept. 10, 2015, at 10:20 a.m., in Phoenix, angels descended from Heaven and whisked our beloved 78-year-old wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and cousin away to be a part of the Great Flower Garden that has been prepared for her in heaven.
Andrea was born in Troy, Texas, on Nov. 30, 1936, to her parents, Marianna De La Rosa and Alejandro Reyna, agriculture crop harvesters. By the time Andrea was a teenager, she had lived in six Midwestern states, following the harvest of the crops. She was a 60-year resident of Arizona.
With a passion in her faith walk, she loved attending church, reading the Bible, listening to Tex Mex-50”s music, and enjoyed comedy and theater. Raising seven children, Alesia, Samuel, Estella, Ruth, Ernesto, Amy and Anita was her lifelong mission along with assisting her now-deceased husband, Alberto Cortez Garcia, with the A & A Garcia Contractor Trucking and Hauling business. She also enjoyed her 16 Grandchildren ages ranging between thirty four and four, which were her pride and joy. Later in life, Andrea married Frank Mcvey in 2014, a new adventure for Mom.
She is survived by 10 of her brothers and sisters. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Alberto, and three brothers, as well as her parents.
Andrea spent her last days battling cancer in the care of her children at Hospice of the Valley at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her cancer ended any hope of her planting more beautiful blooming flowers for everyone to enjoy. She was a beautiful flower to remember.
We wanted to let her know that she did a great job and wish a beautiful journey to heaven. We will remember her beauty, sense of fashion, bright smile, warmth, energy, and love for life. She worked very hard all her life, up until the very end. She made a difference in the lives of her family and friends. We invite you to join us and celebrate her life together.
The funeral service is scheduled Thursday, September 17th from 10-11am at Primera Iglesia Bautista church, 7169 N. 48th Drive, Glendale, AZ 85301. Services will be presided by Reverend Eliseo and Deacon Daniel Reyna. A luncheon reception for the family and friends will be held at Primera Iglesia Bautista church immediately following the burial.
