

Ann Rose Ryan was born January 23, 1931 at Fitch Hospital in the Bronx, NY to James J and Anna R Lawlor. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Edgewater, NJ. Ann had an older sister, Joan and a younger sister, Patricia.
Always a teacher and a proponent of education, Ann received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Paterson State Teachers College and later she earned a Master’s Degree from Arizona State University. Ann taught at Steuben School in New Milford, NJ for 9 years. She spent the summer of 1958 in Europe with other young teachers. On July 22, 1961 Ann Rose became the wife of Michael C Ryan in Edgewater, NJ before moving to Arizona.
Ann loved teaching young minds and taught first grade at Harris Elementary in the Cartwright School District of Phoenix from 1979 to 1995. Upon her retirement and the death of her devoted husband, Ann volunteered at the Phoenix Art Museum for 7 years. She was honored for her contribution to the community by the Governor of Arizona in 2003. For a number of years Ann also delivered food boxes through the St Vincent de Paul Society. Both the Phoenix Art Museum and the St Vincent de Paul Society, organization dear to her heart.
Ann Rose Ryan died on December 23, 2020 at the age of 89. She died peacefully surrounded by family in a place she had called home for nearly 3 years. Ann is survived by her children Patricia (& Tricia) Ryan, James Ryan and Amy Ryan, her grandchildren Caleb (& Irene) Ryan, Sarah (& Scott) Ryan and Annie (& Gabriel) Sage, her great grandchildren Joshua, Evelyn, Avianna, Isaac and Anthony as well as nieces and nephews Ellen Terzini, Lisa Bock, Donna Webster, Brian Garrison and Glen Garrison.
