On March 31, 2020, Anna Lou Christiansen passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 93 years old. She was born to the late Glenn and Hulda Austin on January 26, 1927. She spent her youth and early adult years in Nebraska. She and her husband, Virgil, worked a farm near Laurel, Nebraska. Anna and her family moved to Glendale, Arizona in 1969. She worked at Spring City Knitting for 17 years. Anna was devoted to her husband and children. She raised her children with love and taught them the importance of family, working hard, and living one’s life with integrity and gratitude. Anna was a wonderful cook and her baked desserts were legendary. For many years, even as her children grew into adulthood and had children of their own, she would prepare a Sunday meal for all to enjoy. She knitted and sewed, making clothing and afghans for her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Glendale and lived her long life by the teachings of the church. Her heart was just as gracious beyond her family. She often made food to share with persons in need. She gave afghans that she had made to the homeless of Phoenix, taking them herself to where they lived on the street.
Anna was predeceased by her husband of almost 65 years, Virgil Christiansen. She is survived by her 7 children, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
