Anna Mae (Saindon) Rumback, 93, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away peacefully at Mosaic Gardens Memory Care facility on October 23rd, 2023. Anna Mae received The Last Rites while surrounded by many of her children and grandchildren only hours before her passing.
Anna Mae was born at home in Grainfield, Kansas on January 18, 1930 to Mary Louise and Ovid Saindon . Anna Mae was the youngest of 10 children, and she worked very hard on the small family farm during the Great Depression. After the death of her father, Anna Mae and her mother moved to Oakley, Kansas, where she got her first retail job at a grocery store. With an 8th grade education, Anna Mae faithfully supported her mother until entering into marriage with Lawrence Leo Rumback on September 2, 1947. Much to Anna Mae’s relief, her widowed mother married George Ribordy about the same time.
Anna Mae and Lawrence raised five children and regularly attended the Catholic Church. She worked many jobs, cooked lots of meals and sewed most of their clothes. At one time, she was head manager and co-owner of the Quicky store in Oakley, Kansas, and she was very proud of achieving that level of success with her limited education.
Anna Mae had a passion for sewing, quilting, baking, helping others, playing cards, coloring, reading her Bible, praying, and especially playing guitar and singing country music or worship songs. The highlight of Anna Mae’s life was playing concerts for the residents at her apartment complex in Glendale, Arizona, with her son-in-law, Dean Baker.
Anna Mae will be remembered most for her deep faith and prayer life. If there was a need in the family, she would pray for hours. She sincerely loved her Savior Jesus Christ and His Holy Word. She often said the hardest part of losing her eyesight was the fact that she could no longer read her Bible.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Rumback, her daughter, Mary Lou Huelsman, her grandson, Jeffrey Rumback, and her granddaughter, Nikki (Imm) Sullivan.
She is survived by four children: Duane (Joni) Rumback, Surprise, Arizona; Gayle (Nick) Imm, Mesa, Arizona; Brenda (Lonnie) Kinderknecht, Greenwood, Missouri; and Denise (Dean) Baker, Phoenix, Arizona. Anna Mae also had 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 8th, at St. Helens Catholic Church, on 5510 W Cholla St, Glendale, AZ 85304, with reception to follow.
