

He was born on September 20, 1929 in Cooksville, IL to the late William and Laura Quaid. Bernard married Alice Mora on May 1, 1954. They have shared over 67 years of marriage. Bernard served with the United States Army right after the Korean War ended. He and Alice moved to Arizona in 1957. Bernard worked for the City of Phoenix for 28 years before retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 86 in Heber-Overgaard, Maryvale Elk’s Club, Acacia Masonic Lodge XLII, Avondale, Job’s Daughters International & Order of the Eastern Star. Bernard was also active with Maryvale Softball League, Indian Guides and the Boy Scouts as a Leader.
His wife Alice, three children Teresa Lizarraga, Bernie, Jr., & Lisa (Jerome) Booth, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandson and one nephew John Quaid survive him. In addition to his parents, five siblings preceded Bernard in death.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 9-10AM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale. Funeral services will begin at 10AM. Burial with Military Honors will be at 12:30PM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, Arizona.
