Robert moved from his native Iowa in 1955 for the warmer climate of Arizona and lived there ever since. He spent his entire career as a tool and die maker, even starting his own machine shop, Toolcraft of Phoenix, in 1962, handing over the business to his three sons when he retired in 1995. Even after retirement, he would stay involved in the business, coming by regularly, up until his passing. His love of machining extended so far that he helped found the Valley Metal Club, and was always happy to help others pursue their interests in machining.
He and his wife Randy enjoyed traveling, including going on cruises to Alaska, Hawaii( where they were married in 1976), and through the Panama Canal, as well as going as far away as Australia. For many years they traveled the country in their RV, visiting national parks, friends and family, and just seeing the country.
Robert is survived by his three sons, Terry, Boyd and Lester, one stepson, David Trudeau, as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
