Carl Lyle Walborn, 88, passed away on August 5, 2026. Carl was born on September 5, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio. In 1943, he moved with his family to Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended both elementary school and high school. In later years, Carl resided in Sun City, Arizona.
Carl lived with a steady sense of purpose and a quiet courage—an adventurous spirit shaped by discipline, work, and faith. He served for 12 years in the Arizona Army National Guard, continuing until the mid-1970s. Throughout a long and industrious career, he worked as a Certified Electronic Technician for GE, Honeywell, Bull, and Motorola, earning respect through skill, reliability, and the kind of practical wisdom that comes from doing a job well, day after day.
His love of the outdoors and of learning never faded. Carl was an avid bow hunter and outdoorsman who enjoyed water skiing, kayaking, and wood carving. He was also a General Aviation Pilot who owned a Cessna light plane, and he shared his knowledge as a Model Aviation Instructor—reflecting the heart of a teacher and a generous willingness to give his time and experience to others. A lifelong lover of dogs, he especially cherished dachshunds. Carl was also a lifetime member of the NRA.
Carl was the only son born to William and Marie Walborn, and he had two sisters, twins Jane Walborn and Janet Rossow. He was preceded in death by his twin sisters; his wife, Grace (Reiffer) Walborn; and his parents, William and Marie Walborn.
Those who knew Carl remember not only what he did, but how he carried himself: with steadiness, insight, and a faithful spirit. Carl’s nieces and nephews will always remember him for his lifelong humor, gentleness, and kind spirit.
A special thank you to Dahlia Assisted Living and Memory Care, where Carl resided for two years, and a special thank you to Banner Thunderbird Medical Center, and a special thank you to Bliss Hospice for providing gentle care to Carl in his final days.
