He was born and raised in Calhan, Colorado to Carl and Letha Wills. After completing some school, Carl went on a “Kiddie Cruise” with the Navy from May 18, 1955 until May 1, 1959. After his service, he relocated to Pueblo, Colorado working under Abe Braverman, a Miller Beer distributor, until he eventually became a distributor himself. Carl hired many, including the “Bandinis,” a group near and dear to him. He went on to retire in August of 1988.

He became an avid snowbird, spending summers at Blue Mesa Ranch in Gunnison, Colorado, and winters at home in Peoria, Arizona. Family, friends, fishing, traveling, cruising, entertaining, and pool were among Carl’s favorite past-times.
