Carla Rodriguez

Carla did not like to speak about her early life as it was very hard. She had kids very young in life so she had to leave them with family in order to work. She cared for and married a 70-year-old man so he could fix her children's immigration so they could have the education she never had.

In the 70's she met the love of her life; she would then spend the next 50 years with him. She married Santiago C. Rodriguez on May 30, 1972. They bought a new home together, for the first time since she was 10 years old she didn't need to have a job. She could stay home and be a homemaker.

In the 80's Santiago had some health issues and needed a couple of surgeries. With him unable to work she quickly found a job, took care of him, and her children until he recovered and was able to return to work.

In the mid 90's he had a heart attack that forced him into retirement. From that point on they spent most of their time together. They volunteered for the senior center. Went on trips to Texas, Mexico, Germany, and the place she dreamt about going since she was a little girl Paris, France.

On September 1, 2022 Santiago passed away, leaving Carla heartbroken. Soon after his death she was struck with Alzheimer's and forgot he had passed away. For the next 2 years she would ask everyday where her viejito was and go through the heartbreak all over again.

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, she joined the love of her life Santiago up in Heaven, leaving her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren behind.

A visitation for Carla will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, Arizona 85301, followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM.
