Carol Ann Horst

Born and raised in Paris, Arkansas, she moved with her family to Houston, Texas, at the age of 16 where she eventually met her husband Robert, who served in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, at a USO dance.

Over the course of their 47-year marriage, Carol and Robert traveled across Europe, Asia, and the western United States before his death in 2003.

Often referred to as “Mother Hen” by her seven children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, Carol was beloved for her kindness and generosity — never hesitating to share a recipe, give advice, or make a pair of handmade slippers for anyone who called her family.

Carol is survived by her children Michael, Kathryn Norkus, Stephen, Richard, and Sandra Lane. Her sons Robert David and Ronald preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carol will be held Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5614 West Orangewood Avenue, Glendale, Arizona 85301. Carol will be laid to rest with Robert on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 1:30 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
